What the Tide Brings- Late Evening Performance
We are thrilled to bring firm festival favourite Con together with renowned and much loved Joe Brennan for an evening of wonder. Who knows what the tide brings? One thing is for sure, a captivating evening is guaranteed!
This event will be hosted in Colaiste Nua a lovely hall on the east side of the island, approximately a 30-40min walk from the Ferry harbour.
Ticket Tip: This event is open for adult ticket holders only. You need to book a ticket for this event. There are limited tickets available on the door so book in advance to avoid disappointment. Ticket holders get priority into events, but please arrive 15mins before the event, if you are late your spot may be given to another visitor. Please make sure to bring a copy of your ticket either on your phone or in paper.
Ferry Tip: The daytime ferries from Baltimore will get you in with time to enjoy other events. You can also get the Friday evening ferries leaving Baltimore at 17.00pm, arriving around 17.45pm, or leaving Baltimore at 19.00pm, arriving around 19.45pm. Con Ó DrisceoilStoryteller
Con “Fada” Ó Drisceoil is a songwriter and accordion player from West Cork.
He has written comic songs on a wide range of subjects which includes canine castration, Shakespearean tragedy, unwelcome percussionists and the wildlife of County Clare. In 2006 he published The Spoons Murder and Other Mysteries, a book and CD of his songs. In 2009 he was awarded Gradam Ceoil TG4 for his songs. His latest songbook/CD is called Hunting the Hair and Other Pursuits (2018), and tells of savage cats, anti-baldness quests, hypochondria, drunken deer and many such heroic topics.
Gerry Clancy is a member of Storytellers of Ireland, and the Dublin based storytelling group “Story-O”. A regular contributor to Cork and Dublin Yarn Spinners. He was featured on the Dublin Yarnspinners CD “15 Years of Dublin Yarnspinners” which was released in 2011. Gerry is a visual artist and professional consultant for the arts industry.
As an artist his work has featured in a number of exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Gerry has also been a Co-Director Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival from 2012 to 2016.
Joe Brennan from Wexford, has been telling traditional stories for over 20 years across Ireland and beyond. He has travelled to Norway, Iceland, USA, India, Egypt, Lithuania, Russia, Austria, Belgium and Romania telling stories and delivering workshops.
Joe was Artist in Residence with Waterford Healing Arts, sharing stories and delivery workshops with the staff at University Hospital Waterford. He is the author of Donegal Folk Tales. He has written and created a number of theatre performances for young audiences, including a storytelling performance ‘Whispering Waves’.
Joe Brennan has been a featured teller at Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival in the past and we look forward to welcoming him back to share his many wonderful tales.
