Family Storytelling – Yeki Bud Yeki Nabud
Come join us for some captivating family tales from both Ireland and Iran with world class storytellers Clare Murphy and Zahra Asfah. The title “YeKi Bud Yeki Nabud” means “there was and there wasn’t”. This is how many Persian stories and tales begin. Come and allow yourself to be transported!

Ticket Tip: You need to book a ticket for this event. There are limited tickets available on the door so book in advance online to avoid disappointment. Ticket holders get priority into events, but please arrive 15mins before the event, if you are late your spot may be given to another visitor. Please make sure to bring a copy of your ticket either on your phone or in paper.
Ferry Tip: You can also get the Saturday morning ferry leaving Baltimore at 10.45am, arriving around 11.30am. The venue is approximately a 5 minute walk on the edge of the harbour you arrive at. A map of the island and our venues will be located near the harbour and in our programme brochures. Simone SchümmelfederMC
Simone is a storyteller, writer and teacher from Germany. In 2006 she started to work as a storyteller and also published her first children’s book together with her twin sister Silke.
In 2011, with the Irish storyteller Michael Phelan, she founded StoryGate and performs in schools, libraries and on festivals. She also works closely with the Goethe-Institute in Dublin and combines storytelling with language teaching.
Simone is an active member of the international storytelling ensemble Story-O and takes part in their vibrant and imaginative performances. She has been a teller at Cape Clear over the years.

Zahra AfsahStoryteller
Born and raised in Tehran, Zahra is a storyteller who crafts the ancient Persian stories she tells with precision and passion.
She studied Persian Painting and Transcultural Visuality, examining the links between oral storytelling and Persian miniature painting exploring the direct influences of the oral tradition.
Zahra has run workshops, performed and told stories in schools, museums, festivals, exhibitions as well as informal settings

Clare MurphyStoryteller
Dublin born and bred, Clare has been a storyteller since 2006. Travelling to more than 20 countries she tells for all ages on all kinds of stages. She has performed to audiences from 5 to 5000 people. She loves to tell myth, folklore, wisdom tales and fables. Her inspirations are drawn from far and wide; syrian folklore to quantum physics to climate change to Irish mythology. She has performed for President Mary Robinson, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Royal Shakespeare Company’s Writers Room and the National Theatre London. When not performing she teaches, trains and consults on how Story can be of service in the world.
