Le taispeántais ó Clare Sands, fidléir séú glúin agus amhránaí dátheangach a thugann traidisiún na hÉireann chuig stáitsí domhanda, agus ó Súil Amháin, guth cumhachtach hip hop agus file Gaeilge, Séamus Barra Ó Súilleabháin. Déanann an ócáid faoi leith seo cíoradh ar scéalta, fuaim, liricí agus féiniúlacht. Bí ag súil le rithim, rím, agus scéalta spreagúla – go léir as Gaeilge.

 

Scéal agus Rithim – A dynamic all-Irish language afternoon hosted by master storyteller Pádraig Ó Briain. Featuring performances from Clare Sands, a sixth-generation fiddler and bilingual singer who brings Irish tradition to global stages, and Súil Amháin, the powerful hip hop voice of Irish-language poet Séamus Barra Ó Súilleabháin. This unique event explores how story shapes sound, lyric, and identity. Expect rhythm, rhyme, and riveting tales – all as Gaeilge.

Age suitability: 14 years+

This is an all Irish language storytelling event.

Ticket Tip: You need to book a ticket for this event. There are limited tickets available on the door so book in advance online to avoid disappointment. Ticket holders get priority into events, but please arrive 15 mins before the event. Due to limited venue sizes, our island location, and possible waiting lists, late arrivals may have their spot given to another waiting guest.

Ferry Tip: The Saturday morning ferry leaving Baltimore at 10.45am, arriving around 11:30am, will get you in with time to relax, look around the island, get a coffee and festival program before the stories start. Please note that ferry seats are limited, book in advance to ensure you get yours!     Born in Co. Kerry, Paddy O’Brien is a natural storyteller who has appeared at Storytelling festivals all over Ireland. He has been a featured teller on many occasions at the world famous Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival.

    Paddy can entertain any audience from age 3 to 103 with his fantastic stories, songs and verse – told in his own inimitable way.

    Paddy worked on RTÉ television as presenter of “Dilín Ó Deamhas”, an Irish language TV programme for children (1982 /1986 ).

    Paddy spent many happy years acting with Compántas Chorcaí ( Irish language drama ). This highly rated group presented shows throughout the island of Ireland.

    Paddy has written stories, poems and songs in both Irish and English. He regularly writes material for children. His panto “Ali Baba agus an 40 TD’s” was staged at The Everyman Theatre, Cork.

    Clare Sands is a sixth generation fiddler and bilingual singer from Cork, Ireland. Channeling the music of her ancestors, she weaves traditional Irish roots with contemporary sounds and influences, embodying a fearless warrior-like spirit. As well as representing Ireland on global music stages, Clare is a cross-continental swimmer and black belt, with several world medals to her name!

    Súil Amháin (Éire/Ireland)

    Súil Amháin is the hip hop project of Irish language poet Séamus Barra Ó Súilleabháin. In 2021 Súil Amháin released for 4 songs all produced by Bantum -‘Viva Liobarnach’. ‘Lá Breá’, ‘Incantation of Féile-Flow Funk’ and ‘Oíche Mhaith’.

    Séamus Barra published his first collection poetry Beatha Dhónaill Dhuibh (2016). Séamus has done extensive research on the relationship between composition and folklore in the writings of the Blasket Island poet Mícheál Ó Gaoithín.
