A captivating late-evening event hosted by storyteller Paddy O Brien, featuring Clare Sands, a sixth-generation fiddler and bilingual singer, and Ailsa Dixon, a Scottish storyteller whose tales are deeply rooted in place and landscape. This show carries audiences across the waves, exploring the deep currents that connect myth, music, and the spirit of the land.

Ticket Tip: This event is open for adult audience members only. You do not need to get a ticket for this event. As this event is indoors it will be filled on a ‘first come first serve’ basis. Donations are appreciated.

Ferry Tip: The daytime ferries from Baltimore will get you in with time to enjoy other events. You can also get the Friday evening ferries leaving Baltimore at 5pm, arriving around 5.45pm, or leaving Baltimore at 7.00pm, arriving around 7.45pm. Please note that ferry seats are limited, book in advance to ensure you get yours!     Born in Co. Kerry, Paddy O’Brien is a natural storyteller who has appeared at Storytelling festivals all over Ireland. He has been a featured teller on many occasions at the world famous Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival.

    Paddy can entertain any audience from age 3 to 103 with his fantastic stories, songs and verse – told in his own inimitable way.

    Paddy worked on RTÉ television as presenter of “Dilín Ó Deamhas”, an Irish language TV programme for children (1982 /1986 ).

    Paddy spent many happy years acting with Compántas Chorcaí ( Irish language drama ). This highly rated group presented shows throughout the island of Ireland.

    Paddy has written stories, poems and songs in both Irish and English. He regularly writes material for children. His panto “Ali Baba agus an 40 TD’s” was staged at The Everyman Theatre, Cork.

    Ailsa Dixon (Scotland/Albain)

    Ailsa Dixon is a traditional storyteller, musician and folklorist deeply rooted in place, passionate about sharing traditional tales and unheard histories. She specialises in Scottish stories, particularly those from Aberdeenshire and Orkney particularly interested in narratives with feminist and environmentalist themes, as well as international myths, legends and wonder tales. A traditional musician, she often incorporates traditional song and folk cello and clarsach into her performances. She has performed solo and collaborative work for children and adults at festivals such as the Scottish International Storytelling Festival, Rome Mythica Project, Beyond the Border, the Orkney Storytelling Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe and many others.

    Clare Sands is a sixth generation fiddler and bilingual singer from Cork, Ireland. Channeling the music of her ancestors, she weaves traditional Irish roots with contemporary sounds and influences, embodying a fearless warrior-like spirit. As well as representing Ireland on global music stages, Clare is a cross-continental swimmer and black belt, with several world medals to her name!
