Watch This Space: The Three Heads

Introducing ‘Watch this Space’ – a new addition to the Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival! Designed to showcase fresh voices and new work each year. Offering a platform for creative exploration. This year we are delighted to feature:

Scéalta ó Seacht nOileán in Iarthar Chorchaí / Stories from the Seven Islands of West Cork.

Storytellers Nuala Hayes, Paddy O’Brien and Simone Schuemmelfeder were appointed Storytellers in Residence in 2025 to engage with people on the Seven Islands in West Cork: Cape Clear / Oileán Chléire, Sherkin Island / Inis Arcáin, Heir Island / Inis Uí Drisceoil, Long Island / An tOileán Fada, Whiddy Island / Oileán Faoide, Bere Island / An tOileán Mór, Dursey Island / Oileán Baoi.

The storytellers are exploring the stories, legends and history of the islands as part of Creative Places with the enlightened support and encouragement of Cork County Council.

This tri-lingual (English/Irish/German) event celebrates all seven islands at the Storytelling Festival on Oileán Chléire.

The storytellers will invite some of the islanders they have met on their travels, to share a story, a song, or a tale from their own place, which will bring to life the rich and varied history and story of the different islands.

Creative Places and the development groups on the islands are gratefully acknowledged for their generous support.

The event will be facilitated by Paddy, Nuala and Simone.

Ticket Tip: You do not need to get a ticket for this event. Donations are appreciated.

Ferry Tip: The Sunday morning ferry leaving Baltimore at 11am will get you in at approximately 11.45am- giving you some time to relax, look around the island, get a coffee before the stories start. Please note that ferry seats are limited, book in advance to ensure you get yours!  A physical copy of your prebooked tickets will still need to be collected at the ferry office on the pier before queuing to board https://www.capeclearferries.com/timetables/
